Adult Confirmation

For Already-Baptized Adults

There are many Catholic adults who were baptized as infants, but who never received the Sacrament of Confirmation. The Adult Confirmation program is for those adults who have already been baptized, and would like to complete their Christian Initiation by receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation.

For Non-Baptized Adults

There are also adults who have never been baptized, but who feel called to become Catholic. Adults who have not yet been baptized should contact Fr. Brian to enroll in the “Order of Christian Initiation of Adults,” which is different than the Adult Confirmation program. Fr. Brian’s contact information is pastor@stclareagw.org.

Adult Confirmation Program: General Info

Bishop confers the Sacrament of Confirmation on all baptized adults in our diocese. This is done at the annual Adult Confirmation Mass, held at St. Francis Xavier Cathedral in Green Bay on Pentecost Sunday. This year, it will be on Sunday, June 8, 2025.

Registration for the Confirmation Mass happens through the parish, not the diocese. (See below)

There is no cost to register for the Confirmation Mass.

The preparation for confirmation consists of 6 sessions, where adults look at various aspects of Catholic living: knowledge of the faith, prayer, vocation, and mission. One session is a prayer experience.

Adults can choose to participate in the 6 prep sessions either through the Diocese or through St. Clare Parish. (See below)

Adult Confirmation Program: Step-by-Step

  1. Review the dates, times, and locations (below) offered by the Diocese and the Parish, and decide which you would like to participate in.

  2. Choose a Confirmation Sponsor. Click here for more information on how to choose a Confirmation Sponsor.

  3. Choose a Confirmation Name. Click here for more information on choosing a Confirmation Name.

  4. Contact the parish where you were baptized and request that a “certified copy” of your baptismal certificate be sent to the St. Clare Parish Office, to the care of Fr. Brian.

  5. Fill out the Adult Confirmation Registration form (Fr. Brian or Anne Stemper will confirm that your registration was received).

  6. Attend the sessions you registered for and write a letter to Bishop stating your desire to be confirmed (click here for information on the letter).

  7. Participate in the Adult Confirmation Mass at the cathedral, with Bishop presiding.

Option 1: Preparation through the Diocese of Green Bay

Class sessions will take place over six weeks prior to the Adult Confirmation Mass at the cathedral, with a half day Saturday retreat during week 5. Classes will take place Sunday afternoons in person in the St. Francis Xavier Conference Room on the diocesan campus in Green Bay from 3:00 pm - 4:30 pm. See the full list of dates below. 

  • Sunday, April 27th (3:00 - 4:30 pm)

  • Sunday, May 4th (3:00 - 4:30 pm)

  • Sunday, May 11th (3:00 - 4:30 pm)

  • Sunday, May 18th (3:00 - 4:30 pm)

  • Saturday, May 24th (9:00 am - 1:00 pm) - Retreat Date

  • Sunday, June 1st (3:00 - 4:30 pm)

Registration for the Spring Formation and June Confirmations will be launched in the coming months. To register for the diocesan classes, please contact Fr. Brian or Anne Stemper at the Parish Office.

Option 2: Preparation through Saint Clare Parish

Class sessions will take place over six weeks prior to the Adult Confirmation Mass at the cathedral. Classes will take place Sunday mornings in person at our Wrightstown campus from 11:00 am to Noon (depending on the group makeup, a 9:00 am to 10:00 am option may also be available).
