(See the full Deferred Maintenance and Improvement (DMI) Plan here)

5. Conscious and active participation in the liturgy
6. Pride in the faith and in the parish-school
7. Sunday: the Day of the Lord
8. Buildings and Properties
9. Enhancing connection to, and impact on, surrounding area

Since Summer 2017, our parish direction and projects have been guided by four documents:

1- "Tradition In Progress": The 2017 Pastoral Plan with seven goals and six areas of focus. The goals were (and remain): more intentional discipleship in Christ, conscious and active participation in the liturgy, pride in the faith and in the parish-school, intra-parish cooperation and community, increased volunteerism and parishioner participation, unity in diversity, and financial health and awareness. The areas of focus remain: Sunday--The Day of the Lord, Expanding Liturgical and Prayer Life, Discipleship and Stewardship, Relationship between local and parish-wide community, Buildings and Properties, and Finances.

2- Parish Mission Planning: In Spring 2018, Bishop Ricken called all parishes to engage in mission planning. A group of eight individuals at St. Clare was gathered and four goals were set: 1)The Domestic Church--developing outreach ministry that equips, inspires, and guides households toward a living, family faith tradition; 2)Community Connection--establishing St. Clare as a positive and meaningful presence in our mission field and respond to our wider community needs; 3)Vocations--encouraging the discernment of the priesthood, diaconate, religious, and consecrated life; and 4)Relational Growth/Participation--cultivating small faith circles within the St. Clare community to nurture personal growth as friends and followers of Christ.

3- 2018 Parish Re-Survey (regarding the future of buildings and properties): This re-survey was presented and acted upon as a decision-making survey. Eight informational presentations (on four topics) were given in the weeks prior to the survey. These presentations were video-recorded and posted on the parish website. The printed materials from the presentations were also made available on the parish website for those who couldn't attend. The results of the re-survey revealed that: 67% of respondents favored upgrades to our existing church buildings, 31% of respondents favored building a new church building, 63% said no to upgrading the existing Parish Center in Greenleaf, 53% said no to building a new Parish Center, and 69% said yes to upgrading the existing St. Clare School. Some bare minimum renovation work was noted on the handout of the survey results; however, these were below minimum and further thought was given to the specifics of what needs to be done to our current facilities (see the next item, #4).

4- Deferred Maintenance and Improvement (DMI) Plan, 2019. In order to feasibly enact the preferences noted by parishioners in the 2018 Re-Survey, a 5 1/2 year maintenance and improvement plan was drawn up. This plan is based on the findings of an independent building inspector from Hartland, Wis. The DMI Plan focuses on: structural integrity, utilities, function (i.e., liturgy, education, gathering), and accessibility. The DMI Plan takes a 20-year outlook; that is, what attention do our churches and other buildings need in order to be viable for the next 20 years? Follow this link for the detailed DMI Plan.
